The position provides direct circulation services, readers’ advising and information services to library members. May oversee circulation services in the absence of a Library Operations Manager, Library Supervisor or Library Operations Assistant.
Provides prompt and friendly direct service to members in person, over the telephone or by email. Checks materials in/out; assists members at check-out stations; places holds and retrieves items placed on hold. This position requires frequent public contact.
In the absence of the Library Operations Assistant, may assist the Library Operations Manager in scheduling staff, assigning tasks and monitoring the work flow of the circulation area in a resource library. Provides feedback to a supervisor on job performance of circulation or page staff, as required.
Stays current on and follows all applicable Spokane County Library District guidelines, policies and procedures affecting this position. Responds to workplace situations as appropriate within designated level and scope of authority.

The current work schedule is at both Deer Park and North Spokane libraries
Sunday 12:00 noon-5:00 p.m. at Deer Park Library
Monday 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. at Deer Park Library
Tuesday 4:00-9:00 p.m. at North Spokane Library
Wednesday 4:00-9:00 p.m. at North Spokane Library
Saturday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at Deer Park Library
The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to work other hours or at other locations as needed.
$14.62 - $18.27 per hour in six steps, plus pro rata benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, Employee Assistance Program; 11 paid holidays; paid sick and vacation leave and participation in the Public Employees Retirement System.
The position requires someone with excellent customer service skills who values teamwork. Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Three years of direct customer service experience required; one year direct customer service experience in a library setting preferred. Read and use English and understand numbers. Working knowledge of personal computers, office and database software and Internet; ILS experience preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience that assures satisfactory performance of the essential job functions.
