If you are anything like my family, you’ve become a little obsessed with the movie “Frozen.” We counted down the days until it was released on DVD so we can watch it over, and over, and over again! To help make the time go faster, we’ve been busy getting our hands on all things “Frozen.” We streamed the soundtrack via Hoopla, and then put our name on the holds list for the CD. We checked out “Frozen: The Essential Guide”, and since “Frozen” is loosely based on “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen, I checked out multiple versions for us to compare. We discovered that the two stories are very different, but also found out that the two main characters in “The Snow Queen” are named Kai and Gerda, and in the movie “Frozen” there are two servants of the royal family of Arendelle named Kai and Gerda.

Then we went on the hunt for some more fun “Frozen” facts. Here are a few favorites:

  • When the gates open during “For the First Time in Forever,” there is a cameo of Rapunzel and Eugene (Flynn) from the Disney movie, “Tangled.”
  • The characters of Hans, Kristof, Anna and Sven are all named after Hans Christian Andersen. If you say the names quickly in sequence you can hear the similarity.
  • A live reindeer was brought into the animating studio so that animators could study its movements and mannerisms for the reindeer character, Sven.

If you’d like to find some more fun facts you can check out the “Frozen” site on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb)

Thankfully, our wait is done. The “Frozen” DVD releases today, March 18th.
