Mobius Science Spectacular

Discovering Dinosaurs

After writing six dinosaur books for young readers, author Kelly Milner Halls is ready, willing, and able to share her dinosaur discoveries with young library readers, and their grown-ups. Using her life experiences and her collection of fossils and fossil replicas, you can be sure her dino delight will be contagious. You can even take a little dino home with you with free dinosaur masks for all!

Breaking the Sound Barrier

What is a sonic boom? Why can’t I hear a dog whistle? What was the first human invention to break the sound barrier? These questions and many more will be answered by Charlie Williams, the Noiseguy—a sound impressionist and kid’s comedian. It’s noisy fun for everyone.

Spokane Taiko Drummers

Big, loud, Japanese drums & transcendental bamboo flute will finish off our summer with a BOOM! Spokane Taiko is a performing group bringing traditional music from Japan. Audiences will be soothed at times, and electrified at others by the primal beat and pounding pulse of the instruments.

Come and learn how to make your own erupting volcano. You will create a volcano out of everyday cooking ingredients, learn about chemical reactions, and end the day with your own volcanic eruption. Best of all, you can take your volcano home with you to enjoy again and again.

Tales of the Cryptids – Mysterious Creatures, Fact or Fiction?

Does the mention of Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Chupacabras and other legendary creatures make your heart beat faster? If so, join Kelly Milner Halls as she reveals the evidence she’s unearthed after ten years of intensive writing and research on just those subjects. The Science of Salsa

Ever wonder why your mouth burns after eating hot salsa? We’ll explore the science behind the ingredients and learn about the Scoville heat scale for different types of peppers. Don’t like spicy food? We’ll also be experimenting with fruity salsa so come prepared to chop, measure, and experiment as you create your new favorite salsa.
