Ensign Danielle Marcy reporting to the SS I MUST READ MORE SCI FI. For those of you who enjoyed my previous post about Transolar Galactica may enjoy the following books.

Redshirts by John Scalzi is a parody with a twist. Star Trek fans may understand the reference to a “redshirt.” For those of you who are not Trekkies, a red shirt refers to an expendable character that the audience only sees in one or two episodes before said character meets a horrible death.

Craving more quirky science fiction? How to Live in a Science Fictional Universe by Charles Yu features a time travel technician who philosophizes while attempting to save travelers from the pitfalls of attempting to fix their past. Unfortunately, Charles Yu – yes the main character’s name is the same as the author’s – does not listen to his own advice.

Need science fiction with more action and less philosophy? Serenity: Those Left Behind by Joss Whedon is a graphic novel prequel to the television series, Firefly. Fans and newcomers alike will enjoy this introduction to the crew of Serenity.

Once you read any, all, or none of the aforementioned science fiction, come to the library or comment below and engage in discussions on your favorite topics. I look forward to hearing from you!
