Provide prompt and friendly direct service to library members in person, over the telephone or by email; perform readers’ advising and information services in response to member inquiries. Conduct library programs such as storytimes, book clubs, technology training classes, and craft programs. Host cultural events; assist in planning and implementing programs. Instruct members in the use of library equipment and technology. Assist in circulation as needed. This position requires frequent public contact.

Current work schedule, subject to change, is at two library locations: Spokane Valley (SV) and North Spokane (NS).
Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. @ SV
Monday: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. @ SV
Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. @ SV
Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. @ NS
Thursday: 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. @ SV
The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to work varied hours or at other locations as needed.
$16.41 - $20.49 per hour in six steps, plus pro rata benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, Employee Assistance Program; 11 paid holidays; paid sick and vacation leave; and participation in the Public Employees Retirement System.

Bachelor’s degree required; three years recent direct customer service experience required; two years of recent direct customer service experience in a library setting preferred. Read and use English and understand numbers; working knowledge of personal computers, office software, database software and the Internet; ILS experience preferred; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that assures satisfactory performance of essential job functions.
