We have library programs for varied interests in November. See if we have something you’ll enjoy!

For kids and families, we share two Día de los Muertos events from our community partner Hispanic Business/Professional Association. We also have a delicious and creative challenge for you with Nailed It! Creative Cakes. Disney fans can show off their knowledge of the Magic Kingdom during Virtual Trivia: Disney.

Día de los Muertos Celebration: Drive-Through Event

Presented by the Hispanic Business/Professional Association (HBPA)

Safely drive through our covered display of Día de los Muertos altars built by our community members. You may bring offerings to be placed on the altar. We will have goodie bags for the kids, health kits, and pan de muerto, while supplies last. Bring your family to celebrate this beautiful Día de los Muertos tradition.

Múltiples ofrendas para observar dentro de su carro. Tendremos pan de muerto, bolsa con regalitos para los niños, mascarillas y gel de mana para desinfectar. Traiga a su familia para celebrar esta hermosa tradición del Día De Los Muertos.

Día de los Muertos Celebration: Online Event

Presented by the Hispanic Business/Professional Association (HBPA)

Tune in to the HBPA YouTube channel to experience the beautiful celebration and holiday Día de los Muertos. This event shares the following celebrations and activities: mariachi music, Baile Folklorico, Danza Mexica, paper flowers and piñatas craft tutorials, stories and recollections, educational presentations, an art show, Latinx Film showcase, restaurant promotions, community submitted altars and face paintings, community organization showcases, children’s books, piñata, and more! We will also be playing the beloved game Lotería!

Nailed It! Creative Cakes

Fans of the Netflix show Nailed It! and anyone who enjoys baked goods can get in on this competition. You’re invited to participate in a themed cake-decorating challenge. At the start of the event, we reveal a decorated cake that you are tasked to replicate. Show your decorating prowess using cake layers, frosting, and whatever you have on hand at home to assemble and decorate it. Our judges will pick a champion who replicates the challenge cake in the most creative way. You can compete by yourself or recruit members of your household to form a team. Families & all ages

For this program, you will need:

  • 2 round cake layers: baked and cooled ahead of time
  • Frosting
  • Food coloring
  • Assorted cake decorating items (sprinkles, candy, etc.)

Discover the world of alcohol inks! A highly pigmented but translucent medium, these inks can be used to create colorful works on a variety of surfaces.
