Spokane Transit (STA) is launching a new region-wide pilot program to provide students with a way to access summer activities: the STA Summer Pass.
The STA Summer Pass is a free pass for unlimited rides from June 15 to September 15 for any youth ages 6–18 or students enrolled in school up to and including grade 12. This pass is open to all students in grade 12 and below regardless of where they live.
Summer Passes are available at all public libraries in Spokane County, including all our libraries, beginning June 15.
Visit your nearest library to pick up a free STA Summer Pass, limited to the first 15,000 youths.
The youth who will be using the pass must be present to receive a Summer Pass. Students entering grades 9–12 (or ages 14–18) will be required to verify age or school enrollment.
STA’s service area includes the cities of Airway Heights, Cheney, Liberty Lake, Medical Lake, Millwood, Spokane, Spokane Valley, and parts of the unincorporated county.
The STA Board of Directors approved the pilot program in April to meet multiple objectives including increased access to transit for young people, the development of future transit users, and establishing financial cost estimates for the jurisdictions within STA’s service area to contract for similar services in the future.
