WHY YOU SHOULD SHRED

Identity theft can occur through outright theft of your wallet or mail that has been left around your house or in your car. Thieves have also been known to Dumpster dive and dig in garbage bins for personal or sensitive mail, including pre-approved credit card offers.

Mail fraud has been estimated to account for about 1 in every 20 cases of identity theft, and “familiar fraud,” the term used for fraud perpetrated by someone familiar to the victim (who can even be a child), has been estimated to account for nearly 1 percent of identity theft.

We encourage you to participate in Shred Day, a great way to help ensure your financial health.
