Trying to figure out if you should be using the 1040A and 1040EZ form? (Hint: neither for 2018) What are the new Schedules 1–6 used for? Should you use the Schedule A or Schedule B? Do you have multiple W-2s or 1099s?
If tax season is stressing you out, you’ll be happy to know that Free AARP Tax Aide is here. From January 28 through April 15, you can get help at four of our libraries: Argonne, Cheney, Moran Prairie, and Spokane Valley.
At Argonne and Cheney Libraries, appointments are needed and can be made through Washington Trust Bank by calling 509.353.4851. At Moran Prairie and Spokane Valley Libraries, help is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are able, we recommend making an appointment at Argonne or Cheney Library to save you some wait time. Spokane Valley or Moran Prairie Library, which do not have appointments, are especially busy in February and April.
You’ll need to bring a few things, including your 2018 tax-related documents, valid photo ID, and Social Security cards for yourself and all household members. It is also recommended that you bring your 2017 tax return. If you know which tax forms you’ll need, you can download and print them from www.irs.gov.
