6 Twitter accounts book lovers should follow by Clarissa Fidler | Spokane County Library District

The Twitter-verse is vast and teeming with endless information, including all the latest book news and information. If you’re a book lover who tweets on the regular, you’re probably already following staples like @BuzzFeedBooks and @HuffPostBooks, who both share book reviews, articles, and news at a rapid pace. However, there are a lot more accounts out there for bibliophiles to explore and enjoy.

Here are six accounts you should follow:

@ReadBrightly

If you’re a parent dedicated to raising lifelong readers, you’ll find valuable, timely articles via @ReadBrightly. On the Brightly website, article topics are broken down by ages and stages starting with Baby/Toddler (0-2) all the way up to Teen (13+). They even have a section just for grown-ups. All of these articles and more are shared regularly on their Twitter account.

@BookRiot

No booklover is exactly alike and BookRiot.com understands that. A quick glance at @BookRiot’s feed and you’ll see they tweet a diverse range of articles about every literary genre imaginable. With nearly 20 regular columns to share along with a weekly podcast, you’re sure to find book recommendations and insights that fit your interests.

@BookRiotComics

If you’re into comic books or graphic novels, you definitely want to follow @BookRiotComics. BookRiot Comics, a sister site of BookRiot, truly believes there is a comic book out there for everyone. Stay up to date on the comic world’s latest releases, interesting stories, and thought-provoking articles.

@this_is_teen

YA lovers unite! Run by the teen division of Scholastic publishing, @this_is_teen shares everything from YA booklists and book recommendations to exclusive information about new releases and awesome giveaways. For even more YA goodness, take a gander at their Tumblr.

@nprbooks

If you take book reviews a bit more seriously, this is the feed for you to follow. One of my favorite things @nprbooks tweets is in-depth author interviews that you can either read or listen to.

@ALA_Booklist

You don’t have to be a librarian to love @ALA_Booklist. This account’s specialty is sharing booklists curated by American Library Association (ALA) experts. You’ll also find a wealth of tweets about the latest literary news and events happening around the nation.

Two other Twitter accounts that you’ll want to be sure and follow are @OverDriveLibs and @HooplaDigital. OverDrive specializes in eBooks and audiobooks while on Hoopla you’ll also find music, movies, and comic books. You can access digital content for free from both providers with your library card.

And don’t forget that the District is on social media too! Follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest.
