In partnership with Check Out Washington, these backpacks are funded in part by the Washington State Parks Foundation.
By providing these Discover Passes, libraries hope to increase awareness and access to state lands, especially for those who might not otherwise be able to obtain a Discover Pass.
The Library Discover Pass is a parking pass that provides you with unlimited drive-in access to millions of acres of recreation lands, culture, and history on lands managed by Washington State Parks, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW).
This special Discover Pass does not require a specific license plate number to use the pass. This means that library customers can use any vehicle, including rentals, to park and access state parks and trailheads with this day-use pass.
One pass unlocks beaches, forests, mountains, and lakes for you and everyone in your vehicle. You can visit over 100 state parks, 350 recreation sites, 700 water access spots, 90 natural areas, and 33 wildlife areas. Experience everything from the crashing waves of the coast to the blue-hazed hills of the Palouse.
