Spokane County has issued a press release on July 1, 2021, stating that rental assistance is available for eligible tenants within Spokane County who are located outside Spokane city limits.

Details from the press release:

Emergency Rental Assistance funding continues to be available to eligible Spokane County tenants and landlords for current and past due rent and utilities. Properties must be located outside Spokane city limits. Updated Federal guidance allows for additional help with eviction prevention and housing stability services, which is now incorporated into current County grant programs.

Eligibility requirements, applications and assistance with pending applications can be accessed at the Spokane Neighborhood Assistance Program (SNAP) website, https://www.snapwa.org/snap-rental-assistance/.

It is recommended applicants provide all requested documentation as soon as they apply to speed up the approval process. Landlords may also apply on behalf of their tenants directly to SNAP and are encouraged to work with tenants on required documentation.

The Spokane County Commissioners unanimously approved the selection of Spokane Neighborhood Assistance Program (SNAP) earlier this year to administer the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program and the Treasury Rent Assistance Program (T-RAP).

Total funding for both programs will provide over $17 million in rent and utility assistance to residents and landlords residing within Spokane County but outside Spokane city limits. Combined with prior similar programs granted in late 2020 and early 2021, funding for County administered rent and utility assistance grants currently total over $23 million.
