About the Space

The Lab is a classroom as well as a maker space within North Spokane Library devoted to engaging, hands-on learning opportunities.

Equipment available in The Lab includes:

  • Glowforge laser printer (cutting, engraving, scoring)
  • Cricut electronic cutting machine
  • Sewing machine
  • Digital media transfer equipment (Project Memory)
  • Virtual reality headsets
  • Other available equipment and tools

Maker Open Hours

For teens & adults

Stop in to ask questions, receive instruction, and work on your creative projects using our equipment. Equipment and technology in The Lab are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Equipment You Can Check Out

You can borrow technology and other equipment from the library.

Our Library of Things collection includes a sewing machine, some Project Memory digitizing equipment, and other items that you can check out to use at home or on the go.

Workshops & Classes

Ages vary

The Lab hosts a wide variety of hands-on programs, including STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) programs for kids and families, art classes, and DIY workshops.

Book a Session

You can get help and work on your creative projects using the Glowforge laser cutter and engraver, the Cricut cutting machine, Project Memory digitizing equipment, and a sewing machine. You can also schedule time for a virtual reality (VR) experience using our Oculus VR headsets.

Sessions in The Lab can accommodate up to five people. Youth under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
