Gale Presents: Udemy is our latest digital resource offering thousands of online video courses that are on-demand and flexible to fit into any busy schedule. Courses are taught by industry experts, so you know you’re getting quality information.

Learning within Udemy is organized within categories and sub-categories. Here are just a handful of topics that you can delve into: Leadership & Management, Time Management and Productivity, Social Media Marketing, Project Management, Communication Skills, and Stress Management.

LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) is a video learning platform with courses for business, creativity, and technology. These courses are on-demand and can be completed at your own pace.

You’ll find business topics such as accounting, marketing, and human resources; creative topics such as graphic design, photography, and user experience; and technology courses covering cloud computing, web development, and mobile development. 

Gale Courses has highly interactive, instructor-led courses that you can take entirely online. Courses run for six weeks, and new sessions begin every month. If a set schedule helps you learn and stick to a learning path, then Gale Courses is the resource for you.

Courses include learning to better use Microsoft Office applications, finance and accounting, business communication, and more.

All you need to access these digital resources for online classes from our Digital Library is an in-district library card—available at no cost. Individuals can access all resources and services with our regular library card. Businesses can get access to library resources and materials for their employees using a single business library card.

ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry is a database that includes in-depth coverage of companies, products, executives, trends, and other topics. You can study and compare specific trades and industries, including telecommunications, computing, transportation, construction, petrochemicals, and many others.

Data Axle Reference Solutions (formerly ReferenceUSA) offers accurate data on 63 million businesses and 309 million consumers useful for market research.

ProQuest Research Library provides one-stop access to thousands of full-text periodicals from one of the broadest, most inclusive general reference databases ProQuest has to offer. Search from a highly respected, diversified mix of scholarly journals, professional and trade publications, and magazines covering over 150 subjects and topics.

You can stop by any of our libraries to pick up and activate a business library card. Head on in or get started with our online Get a Library Card form.

If you can’t make it to the library, call us at 509.893.8400 and we’ll send you a card that provides immediate access to select digital resources.

Your business library card will need to be fully activated at one of our libraries to gain access to certain digital resources—including LinkedIn Learning, OverDrive, and hoopla—and to check out library books and materials.

Along with live workshops and digital resources, we offer one-on-one and group training on how to use the resources in our Digital Library with our Book-a-Librarian service.

When you make an appointment with one of our business librarians, they will tailor your Book-a-Librarian session to the task you are looking to achieve.

We can show you and your employees how to access and use the online resources in our Digital Library as well as help entrepreneurs research the information needed to write a business plan.
