It’s that time of the year—time to create art! See what new things you can craft, create, and explore at our library events. Our helpful and informative sessions cover a variety of topics, including personal finance, health and wellness, and small business success.

February is the month to create art that you can share with your community. Our Call for Submissions: Community Art Show is February 2–28. Stop by your library to pick up the special art canvas, while supplies last. When you’ve finished creating, return your art to the library by the deadline for the all-ages show in March.

During Glowforge Creations: Topographic Maps, discover how to turn digital maps into usable files for the Glowforge using free, open-source software. In days of yore, signets were used to seal correspondence with wax, usually with a family crest or other symbol. Create your own during 3D Printing: Signets.
Bring in new and gently used arts and crafts supplies and tools for a Crafting & Art Supply Swap and find some supplies you can use for your next creative project. Gamers and puzzlers of all ages can check out our upcoming Jigsaw Puzzle & Board Game Swaps as well.
During weekly Maker Open Hours in The Lab at North Spokane Library, you can stop in to ask questions, receive instruction, and work on your creative projects using our equipment and technology. The STCU Studio Drop-In Hours start up weekly in February and give you the opportunity to have a look at and learn more about the audio-visual recording space at Spokane Valley Library.
This month’s online class World Cooking: Mexican Food with Chef Isa from Las Delicias de Isa is sure to be delicious! Sign up and cook along with the chef in your kitchen. Java aficionados can fuel the body and mind at one of our Coffee Tasting & Book Pairing events.

Award-winning novelist Vanessa Riley discusses swashbuckling heroines and high seas adventures found in her books. Free AARP Tax Aide returns in February and continues through April at several SCLD libraries. Appointments fill up fast, so be sure to schedule yours soon.
