Drop by our libraries in January for adventurous gameplay, tasty treat making, arts and crafts projects, and creative activities. Check out events and workshops for teens, kids and families, as well as early learners.
Five SCLD libraries offer Free Afternoon Snack for Kids over the winter school break and throughout the year.

Gather friends or venture solo to the library for a one-shot adventure or an ongoing campaign with tabletop role-playing games, such as Dungeons & Dragons. From newbies to dragonslayers, all experience levels are welcome at Teen RPG Club: Arcane Adventures (ages 13–17).
During Teen STEAM: Ignite Your Imagination (ages 13–17), try new activities, such as programming your own video game, making art from upcycled materials, and more.
Sign up for Cricut Training (teens and adults) to explore the basics of using a Cricut (pronounced “cricket”) smart cutting machine, including setup and using the Design Space application. You’ll be creating and cutting cool stuff in no time!
Turn a plain sticky note into a neatly lined template for a checklist, task list, or set of directions during 3D Printing: Sticky Note Stencils for teens and adults.
Each Friday, you can try out the library’s technology and equipment and get help with your creative projects during Maker Open Hours in The Lab (ages 16+).
Other things happening at the library for teens and all ages include: WorkSource Drop-in Help, Jigsaw Puzzle & Board Game Swap, and Indoor Plant Swap.

Try a tasty online session called Kids in the Kitchen: Healthy, Tasty Treats (kids ages 8+ and their adults). The chef demonstrates the easy preparation of a family-friendly dish in this online presentation while kids with their grownups follow along at home. Sign up to get the ingredients list so you can make something yummy together!
Get ready for a custom adventure at the library! During Choose Your Own Adventure: Crafts & Activities, we ask you a few questions and your answers decide the crafts and activities you do at each step.
Stop by our libraries to Design Glow-in-the-Dark Art and Create Tin Foil Art. Plus, try new activities at these weekly and monthly STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) programs:
In January, families can sign up for Sala de escape en español / Escape Room in Spanish at Cheney Library. These events are presented completely in Spanish:
¡Pon a prueba tus habilidades de comunicación al máximo! Trabaja en equipo con tu familia o con un grupo de amigos para resolver rompecabezas, descifrar códigos y escapar antes de que sea demasiado tarde. Este programa se presenta íntegramente en español. Es necesario inscribirse.

Young children and their caregivers can enjoy stories and activities to build early literacy skills at our weekly Play & Learn Storytimes programs. Check out Picture Book Chat to see some of the best new books to read with early learners.
