Registering for kindergarten gives schools an idea of how many incoming kindergarten students to expect. This is especially helpful as schools determine how many classrooms they will need to have. Dates to register for kindergarten differ from school district to school district. Below is the list of the school districts in our service area. All registrations begin in March
Here are some common items that you will need to register your child for school:

• Proof of residence: driver’s License, piece of first class mail

Kindergarten registration will begin at 7:30am on Thursday March 1st. Children must be 5 by August 31st. Several forms can be completed in advance and can be found on the Cheney School District Registration webpage.

District #81 – Spokane Public Schools

Registration starts March 1. During the school year, register from 8:15am–3:30pm at your neighborhood elementary school. During the summer, register at the Spokane Public Schools (SPS) administration building downtown.
If your child is identified as a potential English Language Learner, you will need to register the student at the Family Registration and Orientation Center (F.R.O.C.) at 1807 N. Washington, C-101. Please call Debbie Battista at (509) 354-6263 to make an appointment.
What to bring:
For choice options (Montessori, Apple, TEC, charters, etc.), applications must be submitted between January 1–February 15. Selections are made through a lottery process. For more information, please visit the school district enrollment steps page.

A child must be five (5) years old by August 31, 2018 to enter kindergarten. Washington state law requires all students to be immunized before enrolling in school. Your child will not be assigned a classroom teacher until the immunization requirements are complete. Students moving into Liberty’s borders may register at any time during the school year. Kindergarten Roundup the last Friday in April offers incoming kindergartners and their parents a unique opportunity to get a taste of what the coming school year might bring, including: riding the bus, meeting their teacher, touring the school, and making new friends. Kindergarten Roundup will be held Friday, April 27, 2018. Contact the district office for more information.

Registration materials are not currently available online and must be obtained from the school secretary. Orchard Prairie enrolls only about 12 Kindergarten students per year and priority is given to families already using the school. If you live outside the district, call the school any time after Christmas break to be put on a waiting list.

All Kindergarten students attend Millwood Kindergarten Center at 8818 E Grace Ave. Registration packets may be picked up at the Kindergarten Center, any West Valley Elementary School, or the District office. Registration materials must be returned, along with birth certificate and shot record, to the Kindergarten Center. Call 509.922.5469 for additional information. Kindergarten Roundup will be held in late August, with details available closer to the time of the event.
