Summer Reading is all about exploration and discovery as you Unearth a Story at the library. Check out these fun events and activities for kids, early learners, and families, plus tweens and teens.


Supa Buddies, report to the library! A mashup of mayhem awaits you during Dog Man Supa’ Adventures: Activities & Crafts. Take on fun activities and crafts to celebrate our favorite furry crime-fighting characters.
Dinosaur fans and curious explorers can see fossils and images, hear interesting facts, and try a dinosaur-themed activity during Dinosaur Discovery Fun. Children’s writer Kelly Milner Halls answers questions about dinosaurs that she discovered while writing her book A Dinosaur for Washington.
Each I Survived book shares a harrowing tale of survival based on a true event. Now these events have invaded the library. Explore the science behind some disasters, complete challenges, and see if you have what it takes to survive during I SURVIVED: The Invasion of the Library, 2026.
Make your own miniature beach scene, and practice your sandcastle-building skills with kinetic sand, during Sand Art Activities. Discover Prehistoric Creatures (That Aren’t Dinosaurs) while you do activities and learn amazing facts about creatures, such as saber-toothed cats, woolly mammoths, and colossal monsters of the deep.


Enjoy Family Storytime in the Park this summer (ages 2–5 & their families). You can also experience a free, interactive storytime and concert in a beautiful park setting at BeethoVan Pop-Up in the Park: Storytime with Spokane Symphony Ensemble.
No job’s too big, no pup’s too small to power up our brains at the library. The library needs you and your adults for a literacy mission at the PAW Patrol Party (ages 3–8 & their families)! Only you can spread learning throughout library land by completing crafts and activities.
Meet Cedar the Highland Cow & Her Calf Clover, Mascot of the 75th Interstate Fair (ages 4+ & their families). Celebrate 75 years of the Spokane County Interstate Fair and meet this year’s furry mascot. Author Honey Louise Smith reads her picture book Cedar’s Amazing Journey, the story of Cedar’s first year of life. Cedar and Clover will also be available for photo opportunities and petting.

Turn cookies into delicious art with Cookie Decorating (ages 10–17)! Baker Catee Ng shares basic techniques for cookie decorating that you can practice on three cookies that you take with you.
Use observation skills and critical thinking to complete escape room-style challenges, such as logic puzzles, math problems, codes, and ciphers during Escape Room with a Twist (ages 10–14). If you like things that sparkle and shine in your life, bring a book, journal, or planner and transform it with rhinestones into Bedazzled Books: Diamond Art Covers (ages 13–17).
Find workshops for ages 10–14 where creativity and technology come together at The Lab and The STCU Studio, including Coding Basics, 3D Stereoscopic Images & Viewer, Video Boot Camp, Audio FX: Make Some Noise, and Hebocon 2026: The Junky Robot Competition.
